Thank you for all your tweets earlier today, and I will take some of them into consideration …….then ignore them! Ha ha!
Only joking…….seriously tho’ I know there will be some spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, too many, or not enough paragraphs, blog too long etc.
I don’t care, what’s important to me, is the content of what I say, not the grammatically correct way to say it!
On that point,I want to talk about a relevant topic “who knows about football”?
When I decided to start blogging (a new word to me, so I don’t even know if that is what I am doing)….I told a journalist friend of mine, who offered to do it for me.
When I told him I was going to do it myself, his “immediate” response was “um…er…agh!!”……in other words, you are not a journalist, so why do you think you can do this?
This is the greatest challenge to the football industry (players, and especially managers).
When journalists write tactically, and technically about football, if players or managers, question their expertise on the subject, they get very offended!
In fact I know some journalist would rather you question their journalistic qualities, than their footballing knowledge!!
That is because football is the greatest phenomenon in the world!
If he can write about football, why can’t I, (who has been talking, writing, and thinking since I was about 5) write a blog to represent myself, and my thoughts?
What compounds the problem for players/managers, is that, not only journalists, but “everyone” is an expert on all things football.
You have cricketers, rugby players, all sportsmen, plumbers, milkmen, all walks of society, ready to tell managers/players what they should/should have done, how they should do it,why they should do it!!
If I (who played a bit of cricket, and “only” played rugby at school) dared to give my opinion (expertly on the tactical, and technical aspects of football) on other sports on talk sport,or other media outlets, I would be told by the ones who know better than I “what gives you the right to comment on something you know very little about”
Notwithstanding the thousands of other people in other walks of life telling me the same,if I spoke about their particular jobs/industries!
Please assume that the managers of all the clubs you support, know better than you what is necessary for success!
Unfortunately, when a team loses, every decision the manager makes can be criticised.
That’s what makes football so ripe for discussion, because it gives us all a chance to show our knowledge of what the manager/ players/teams, should have done!
While the manager got it wrong, there is no guarantee that your suggestion would have worked, no matter how much your ego convinces you (me included) that if he did what I think he should have, the outcome would be different (it is impossible to ever know) but good pub chat!
Picked wrong team,wrong system,wrong formation,wrong substitution…I could go on…sounds familiar?
That’s it for now,but just want to give my opinion on some of the tweets……
First of all let me tell you about “opinions”
I mentioned “stereotypes” in my 1st “blog”
Let’s talk about “cliches”……have a missed something over the “e” for all you spelling experts??
Just like stereotypes, not all cliches are correct!
You have to ” respect people’s opinions”……
We have to respect people’s ” right” to have their own opinion, but having to respect “their opinion” is crap,or we will respect every thought anyone has!
Back to the tweets,
Some people cited coutinho at 21 and shelves at 21, some support the foreign players adding more quality to the league, which it undoubtedly does, but we never complain about much, until it affects us!
The only people this dynamic affects,is young ” local” professional footballers ( once again, not white Anglo Saxon kids, local, can be black, white,Asian,Chinese)
Let “your” industry be transformed (journalists, milkmen, bus drivers, every walk of British society) into having 70% foreign people to 30% of “you” and you will soon start to complain!!
Or, let you’re children be disenfranchised by not making it into professional football, then you will complain!!
Who is going to speak up for your ,your brothers, your sisters, your neighbours, your friends, children????
